Enrolling in benefits

New hires

Newly-hired faculty and staff should enroll in benefits within 30 days of their employment dates for:

  • Health insurance
  • Dental insurance
  • Life insurance (optional life)
  • Accidental death & dismemberment insurance
  • Long term disability insurance
  • Short term disability insurance
  • Accident insurance
  • Cancer insurance
  • Critical illness insurance

Retirement choice (TRS or ORP for eligible employees)
Newly-hired faculty and staff should enroll in their retirement plan within 60 days of their employment dates, using the MyBenefits@UGA enrollment system.

Current employees

Current employees who experience IRS-approved "life events" (marriage, births, etc.) should request changes in their benefits within 30 days of the life event. Read more about changing coverage due to life events.
