Critical illness (including cancer) insurance

New employees:
If you do not enroll during the first 31 days of your employment, you must wait until the annual fall open enrollment period.

Most people don’t like to think about becoming sick due to a major illness, but if you did become ill, how would you pay for your care? Medical insurance usually pays for some of the costs, but many times, individuals with critical illnesses are left with large out-of-pocket expenses. Critical illness insurance provides additional cash benefits in the event of a critical illness.

Premiums are paid by employees via post-tax payroll deductions. Please note: all faculty and staff who are paid on a ten-month payroll basis will have a triple deduction of premiums on their May payroll checks to pay for May, June, and July premiums.

New hires must enroll during their first 31 days of employment or wait until the next open enrollment period each fall. To enroll, use the MyBenefits@UGA system.

bullet  Cancel coverage

You may cancel critical illness coverage at any time. Send an email to bnchange@uga.edu with your request.
