Voluntary Student Health Plan

The enrollment/waiver period for spring/summer 2010 is November 16, 2009 - February 5, 2010. For coverage January 1 - July 31, 2010.

UGA students who are not required to have health insurance may purchase the voluntary plan if they are (a) enrolled in six (6) or more semester hours or (b) graduate or professional degree program students taking at least one graduate level course, or (c) students participating in Cooperative Education Programs.

The voluntary plan is an accident and sickness insurance policy that includes diagnosis and/or treatment of illness, injury, or medical conditions. Benefits include physician, hospital, surgical, pharmacy, behavioral health services (mental health / substance abuse), as well as legally mandated benefits.

Voluntary plan premiums
Premiums for individual students in the Voluntary Plan are as follows:

Premiums due to Pearce & Pearce for individual/student coverage
Fall semester 2009	$733
Spring/summer semesters 2010	$969

Students may also purchase health insurance coverage for their spouses and children for an additional premium.

The University premium contribution does not apply to the voluntary plan.

Voluntary plan premiums for the student, spouse, and dependents must be paid by the student to Pearce & Pearce at the time of enrollment.
