New employees:
If you do not enroll during the first 31 days of your employment, you must wait until the annual fall open enrollment period.
Premiums are paid by employees via post-tax payroll deductions. Please note: all faculty and staff who paid on a ten-month payroll basis will have a double deduction of premiums on their August payroll checks to pay for July and August premiums.
TO ENROLL in the short term disability insurance program or to ask questions, you must contact the Enrollment Call Center at 1-888-936-7655 and speak with a benefits specialist. This number is available Monday - Friday, the first 20 days of every month.

Short term disability insurance (Boston Mutual)
Your ability to provide an income for your family is your most important asset. If you are sick or injured and cannot work, you need a way to replace lost income. Now, you may elect an optional short term disability (STD) benefit plan to replace a portion of your income during absences due to non-work-related illnesses or injuries lasting up to 3 months. The STD plan also covers maternity-related disabilities in the same way as any other disability.
