Flexible Spending Accounts

UGA has contracted with PayFlex to administer the Flexible Spending Account Program (FSA) for health and dependent care reimbursement.

Using PayFlex, you'll enjoy a variety of features, including:

  • 24/7 online access to your account information (go to the PayFlex site)
  • Flexible spending account debit card (card fee paid by the University)
  • An additional 2 ½ month grace period to incur expenses and submit claims
  • Toll-free customer service phone center 8:00am - 8:00pm, M-F: 1-800-284-4885

The maximum annual contribution to a flexible spending account is $5000.
The minimum monthly contribution to a flexible spending account is $20.

If you use the PayFlex debit card to pay for qualified health care expenses, be sure to save copies of your receipts and related documentation. IRS regulations require you to substantiate expenses by providing this information upon request.

Enrollment
If you wish to participate in these programs, you must enroll during your first 31 days of employment, during the open enrollment period, or when you experience an IRS-approved change in family status. You must enroll each year you wish to participate in this program.

Retiring and terminating employees:
If you would like to extend your health FSA through the end of the calendar year during which you leave UGA, you must submit the Lump Sum Payment Application to Employee Benefits several weeks prior to your retirement or termination date. Please speak to a benefits counselor if you have questions about this option.
