"May I change my coverage during the year?"

The health, dental, health care flexible spending account, and dependent care flexible spending account elections you request during your initial enrollment will remain in effect for the entire plan (calendar) year. You may change the level of coverage (employee only, employee + spouse, employee + one child, or family) or cancel your participation in the plans only if you experience an IRS-approved change in family status.

If you experience a family status change, visit the HRconnection Web site within 31 days of the event and select the "Change coverage" tab. Select the reason for the change and complete the remainder of the online form. When you press "Send," this information will be forwarded to UGA HR. You will also be required to furnish proof of the change in family status.

For life insurance only, you should visit the MetLife Web site or call them toll free at 1-866-492-6983 to request changes in coverage.
